Comment s'y rendre
Easy to access from La Rochelle airport, via bus or taxi. La Flotte is easily accessible by car, and public transport.
Many airlines fly to La Rochelle, including European budget airlines - Ryanair, Easyjet and Jet2.
Access from the airport is easy to taxi - there are usually a lot of taxis waiting for each flight. Pricing is usually 40-45 euros in high season.
In July and August there is a bus direct from the airport onto Ile de Re.

If you take this bus, you need to get off at the bus stop "le port". At certain times, the port is closed to traffic - in which case you get off at "le Coquereau " - and take the navette/minibus into the port bus stop. Details are annotated on timetable.
Outside of high season you have to go into La Rochelle on one bus, to bus station at Place de Verdun, and get another bus across to the island.

Déplacements
There are regular buses from the island to La Rochelle train station. During the summer season there are also some buses that stop at the airport. On the island you can easily get from village to village by bus. And there are free minibuses from the major bus stops direct into each village centre. Many village centres are "pedestrianised" during the summer season. It is very popular to cycle around the island, as it is very flat. There are many, many cycle rental shops. That are very good. And it's the best way to see the island.
