If you are a walker you can get to the center of downtown Mill Valley in about 15 minutes, or drive in about 3 minutes. There are plenty of buses if you prefer to forgo a car, and you can take the ferry from Sausalito or Larkspur, which are nearby towns, into San Francisco, which is about 15 minutes by car.
