Airports such as Liverpool, Manchester, Blackpool, and Leeds/Bradford are all within easy reach of Sedbergh, making it an easily accessible location. Several of the main low-cost airlines, such as Ryanair, EasyJet, and BMI Baby serve these airports.
West coast railway line calls at Oxenholme - the Lake District - and a taxi is easily available for the remaining 10 miles to Sedbergh when buses are not available. Garsdale or Kirkby Stephen rail stations are nearest to the Settle Carlisle line which connects West Coast at Carlisle through to the Leeds lines.

You really can visit anywhere locally by some lovely walks and a bike can take you to some more distant places. Vehicle transport of some form is best required though for visiting either deeper into the Lakes or Dales although there are many public transport options available after driving to Kendal.
