Bus stop is less than 5 min away. Hiring a car or booking a tour is recommended if you want to see more of the island. Or combine a hike to Oia in the morning (2-3 hours) with ride on the public bus (or taxi) back. But you can also spend a whole week without 4 wheels, walk into the main town Fira - it's a wonderful scenic footpath with many breathtaking vistas. There you can take an excursion boot to the volcano and the hot springs. Or walk into the other direction, again along the caldera to Imerovigli, a pittoresque village.... or just explore Firostefani! Sometimes less means more ... the house and its terraces are there to be enjoyed!
